I am Isabella Duarte-Crespo, a sixteen-year-old disabled business owner who recently flew on a British Airways flight that lost my wheelchair for 15 days. Due to my life-long condition, Spina Bifida, I can't stand or walk for extended periods of time and therefore depend on my wheelchair when traveling.  I'm reaching out to explain the recent situation in which both American Airlines and British Airways lost my wheelchair for 15 days and to offer a solution to prevent the damage or loss of mobility aids during flights in the future.

As a 16-year-old disabled entrepreneur and passionate traveler, I recently faced a disheartening experience during a flight with American Airlines and British Airways. My wheelchair was lost for 15 days, shedding light on a critical issue within the airline industry.

Let's dive into my amazing experience aboard the Celebrity Mediterranean Cruise. I'm just a 16-year-old exploring the world with my family, and boy, did we have a blast! Here's the rundown...

I had an incredible time flying with SAS (Scandinavian Airlines) from Miami to Copenhagen! Traveling with my daughter, Isabella, who has limited mobility, can be challenging, but SAS made it a fun and stress-free journey for us!

Bella came up with the idea for underwear with pockets, forming a business to sell her new products. But that's not the only idea she's had. At the end of 2021, just as she had turned 15, Bella came up with another idea: a hoodie with a useful pocket.

I was born with Spina Bifida. Ten years ago my mom and I came up with the idea for underwear with pockets to help me manage my health condition. And 5 years ago I formed a business to sell our new products and help the kids with similar health problems. Here are my 5 biggest things I have learned as a young entrepreneur:

One of my family’s favorite vacations is taking a cruise, but not just any cruise, a Disney cruise. In my younger years, a Disney cruise was a dream come true. Now, as a teenager and growing up with Spina Bifida, I realize how much effort my parents put into planning trips, but I must say Disney’s Fantasy ship truly makes cruising an effortless reality. 

A child with special needs does not mean we can’t travel; it just means we have to plan, to prepare, and to prevent as much as possible. From Paris to Colombia to St. Augustine, we are a traveling trio, and I am happy to share what we’ve learned along the way.
